Amantya's cloud-native and highly optimized 5G Standalone (SA) UPF supporting the Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) requirements of 5G now leverages Napatech's SmartNIC technology to accommodate significantly more users or devices per server compared to pure software solutions or competing offload solutions. The UPF offload solution adopts a "hair-pinned" architecture for the UPF data path, ensuring that once configured, all flows are handled directly on the SmartNIC without requiring traffic to traverse back and forth to the server CPU. This approach significantly enhances system performance while reducing the server CPU's workload, allowing its resources to be allocated to control plane functions, edge applications, and services.

The enhancement reduces costs per user, improves energy efficiency, and ensures superior network performance. With Napatech's NT200 SmartNIC, Amantya's 5G UPF can sustain 2x 100 Gbps throughput without consuming any server CPU cores for the UPF data plane, allowing higher subscriber densities per edge server.
